[Loadstone] re Loadstone on IPhone.

Hi Sean,
I think it is inevitable. the world for blind in Ireland has virtually 98%
gone to the IPhone. I agree that future developement of Loadstone which I
have on my Nokia n82 will go to the IPhone.
Did I hear somewhere that some other developer is using Loadstone databases
for something similar on the IPhone?
Best of luck Sean and all the team and thanks for the dedicated work over
all these years!
Kind regards to all,
Aedan O'Meara.

Hello list. I'm posting this message to see what the interest level is for a
version of loadstone for iphone. Since Symbian has hit end of life we have
to move to another platform. We're seriously considering developing a
version of loadstone for the iphone (a mac and iphone have been obtained for
the task).
This would be a complete rewrite of loadstone rather than a port since the
devices are so different. This would give us a chance to do things a lot
better since we'd now have a lot more to work with. This version of
loadstone would probably also not be free since it costs $99 per year to
develope for the iphone as well as the cost of the mac and a test iphone.
The cost would be something reasonable thoe.
What are people's thoughts on this idea? Is this a project worth doing? If
we have to charge for it what would be a reasonable fee? Any feedback would
be appreciated.
To answer a question I know will come up, no, we're not considering a
version of loadstone for android. This is because the accessability features
of android aren't quite as well developed as they are on the iphone. This
may change at some point and then we'll have to give it some thought but for
now the iphone seems to be the best option.

I'm sure there would be various people interested in something like this,
but, from my side, while I still use my old nokia N82 with loadstone on
occasion, android is my primary mobile focus area, and am currently playing
around with pointFinder and dotWalker on that platform, etc.

Stay well

I'll better die than buying such a iPhone and put myself into a golden cage.
No, I'm not interested for sure and no, imho such a project isn't worth
doing.

I'll never spend a single cent for an apple-device... no way.

So Loadstone is dead for me if I stop using my S60 phones... :-((

Hello

As I plan to buy an Iphone very soon I am interested in a loadstone version
for it and am also willing to pay a reasonable price for it.

I don't yet have an iPhone but probably soon will. I generally like the
Loadstone application except for real problems I continue to experience
getting maps onto my Nokia N73. Presumably there are better ways than having

to fiddle about moving things about through folders not intended for user
manipulation, that commonly failed for me.

I would be willing to pay for such an application provided it is easy and
intuitive to use and preferably not requiring constant cell connection.

Cheers.

Dale Leavens.
