[Loadstone] Question about importing databases

The add database option adds a database to the list of currently loaded
databases. This allows you to use more than one database at once.
The import database option converts a loadstone database file in text format
in to a binary database that can actually be used by loadstone.
In order to use a text file you have to import it first.
As for what happened in your situation, loadstone most likely tried to
create a binary database since the one you selected didn't exist. This may
have corrupted your text file, you may want to check. The program shouldn't
have crashed thoe, this could be some kind of bug.
