External receivers have the same accuracy. Their advantage is that they track more satellites, find position more quickly and stay locked.

Well, I'm thinking about buying some of these bt receivers.
I have E66 and it mostly catches from 4 to 8 sats and accuracy is from 10 to 30 meters.
How do these receivers do?
Dave Carlson napsal(a):
Absolutely. My old GlobalSat BT receiver attaches to my shoulder strap or
the dog harness. Works faster, and racks more satellite than the internal on
my N95. But the N95 is always there if I need it in a pinch and I don't have
my "stuff" with me.

Having been for a short walk with this phone, I'm rethinking my strategy
slightly. I think I'll buy a bluetooth gps receiver, since wandering around
with the phone open is to my mind a little impractical, and I think an
external bluetooth receiver will work a lot better. I assume that they have
a clip or some such thing so you can clip to a pocket, and the phone can be
put away until you need some navigation help?

Your N95's internal GPS will work fine if you select "integrated GPS" even
if you don't have "Assisted GPS" enabled. Rather than jumping to
conclusions, make sure you've "checked" "assisted GPS" in your
Tools/Settings/General/Positioning settings as this needs to be the case
before it will show up in Loadstone's GPS menu.
Like I said though, if you just leave it somewhere for about 5 minutes
where it has a good clear view of the sky it should get a signal
eventually. Internal GPS receivers really are less than decent but do
work in emergencies!

Hi Stephen,
In the positioning window, there are three options. Bluetooth unchecked,
integrated checked, and networked also checked. With this configuration,
there
is still no signal. There is no mention of assisted gps.
Many thanks,
David.

Select the assisted GPS also make sure that both the Assisted and
intergrated GPS are both checked in the Settings of the phone. Menu,
Tools,
Settings, General positioning, Positioning method.
Also you have to make sure that the slider of the N95 is open to show the
number keypad. If you want to use the phones own GPS.

Hardware eventually fails, software eventually works.
No amount of bandwidth can fix poor design.

Many thanks, it worked.
However, when I try to connect, i get a message: No signal after X
seconds.
I tried going outdoors to see whether it would make a difference, but
nothing happened.
Maybe there is no satelite near me.
Any suggestions gratefully taken,
David.

Hi, open loadstone, press options and select settings, navigate right 3
times and find the gps settings tab and change the gps source from
bluetooth
to phone. this way you can use internal gps of the phone.

Hi folks,
I've installed loadstone on my N95, but it won't detect gps. It seems
to
be looking for a bluetooth gps, but this one is built-in.
Any help greatly appreciated.
David.
