I don't think of it as an inconvenience to not have every intersection 
marked as a check point especially if they aren't even a real block 
distance.  Marking check points for a ride on a city bus then riding in a 
car with the same check point list even gives different results in the 
number of announcements per minute as cars move through the city faster than 
a bus.
