That appears to only work if you have an address. What if I want to take a
virtual tour using Google Earth and figure out what bus stops on a given
route that I want to make as a check point?

there's a text version of Google Earth maps that lets you convert
addresses into lat/long coordinates. Look for 'Geocoder'.
